The Quarry Resort, housed in the historic Palazzo Zicari, is located in the heart of the evocative Sassi of Matera and is one of the most emblematic buildings of the Civita, offering a breathtaking view of the Sasso Caveoso. Its roots reach back to a millennia-old past: the original structure, once consisting solely of caves, dates back to several centuries B.C. The built portion, however, took shape around 1500 A.D., a time when, in this very area near the Cathedral, the palaces of noble families, the ruling class, and the clergy began to emerge, shaping the aristocratic character of the city.
